This is the time of year where we reflect on goodness - the good people and good things of the world.  In turn, this is also the time of year for us to create goodness by giving back to something or someone other than ourselves. So many organizations here in Dunwoody do their part all year round to serve others. Take a look at what’s being done, and then take the initiative to give back yourself! To do good is to feel good, and who doesn't love to feel good?

The Packaged Good - Giving Back Made Easy

After the loss of her husband, The Packaged Good Founder Sally Mundell wanted to focus on the important things in life – her kids, and making a difference in the world. She noticed a void while searching for volunteer organizations that were both kid-friendly and convenient, so she decided to create her own. Finding the right charity isn't always an easy task and neither is finding time within your busy schedule. The Packaged Good eliminates all of that by packing connection, convenience, and consciousness together in order to create an engaging experience for families while helping those in need. Seeking to instill the desire to give back in children, the Packaged Good provides a fun, inspirational atmosphere where kids and community groups can decorate and personalize care packages for those in need.

Volunteers can swing by during one of their monthly Do Good Events, or even do their part from home! Yes, giving back is really THAT easy. The Packaged Good partners with charities within their four causes - armed forces, the elderly, the homeless, and children. This way volunteers can select whatever charities resonate most within their heart and not worry about the logistics. Thanks to donations, everything you need to create and stock your package is already conveniently provided. All you have to do is show up with a giving heart!

How You Can Help The Packaged Good:

The Packaged Good requests for volunteers to donate any supplies that are in need or you can also give monetary donations via Square

Other Partners Playing Their Part:

The giving keeps going in Dunwoody this time of year. Here are some other community partners getting in on the goodwill:

Dunwoody Police Department - Christmas For Kids

The Dunwoody Police Department Christmas for Kids (CFK) program began in 2009 with the goal of bringing our community together to collect new and unwrapped toys and gifts for Dunwoody's under-privileged children between the ages of newborn to 15 years old. The drive kicks off the weekend before Thanksgiving and runs through the December 25.

Officers work together with I Care Atlanta, Inc. to hold a Christmas celebration at a local facility where Santa and his Elves (along with a toy soldier or two!) arrive to greet deserving kids and their parents and enjoy a festive celebration complete with gifts and activities for the kids as well as snacks for the whole family.

The event is the second week of December so please don't wait...they need those toy donations! New, unwrapped toys and gifts can be dropped off during this time at Dunwoody Police Headquarters

Please note: The Dunwoody PD will continue to collect toys and gifts at Dunwoody Police Headquarters through Christmas Day to distribute to local charitable organizations.

Painting With A Purpose

Several times throughout the year, Painting With A Twist hosts events where they use their paintbrushes for a noble cause.

Painting with a Twist is partnering with the City of Dunwoody and the Dunwoody Police Department for a night of painting, fun, and giving back to our community! Admission is $35 per person and a portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Dunwoody Police Department's Christmas for Kids program. It's also BYOB! (Beer & Wine Only).
