The holiday season is a magical time of year, and nothing captures the spirit of the season quite like the holiday lights in Dunwoody. Whether you prefer a more relaxed self-guided tour of holiday lights or a festive community event, Dunwoody has something for everyone.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Rachel Waldron the Recreation Program Supervisor for the City of Dunwoody about the Holidays Lights at Brook Run Park. Many in Dunwoody have not seen these lights. That is because it's a fairly new initiative. In 2020 the Holiday Lights at Brook Run offered a glimmer of hope and joy amid the uncertainty and darkness of the pandemic. Rachel notes that this first year was very special to see the community come together after months of isolation due to Covid.

Every year since the displays have gotten grander and bring festive cheer to the entire community. This year's theme is Sweet Shoppe- complete with a chocolate volcano, gingerbread house, and ice cream land. With over 85,000 lights you’ll be sure to enjoy this FREE festive event. The centerpiece is a beautiful, sparkling holiday tree that plays festive music for all to enjoy. Keep an ear out for music from Cher, Iggy Pop, and the Polar Express!

While this display is open the entirety of December, plan a visit for the weekend of Dec 9th or Dec 23rd to enjoy some adult beverages from Top Job Beverages. Rachel’s lips are sealed on next year's theme but she can say expect more lights next year at Brook Run Park.

From the classic holiday lights adorning homes in the city to the festive decorations in public spaces, Dunwoody is a great place to go for a holiday light show. Looking for something a bit more low-key? The Dunwoody Village Shopping Center is a great place to find some festive decorations. The shopping center is adorned with bright lights and festive decorations such as their large Christmas tree and menorah.

Many people are looking to be dazzled by festive lights and decorations from their car, then look no further than the Redfield Subdivision. The residents of this neighborhood go all-out when it comes to decorating their homes for the season. From strings of lights wrapped around every tree to festive inflatables in the front yards, the Redfield Subdivision is sure to put on a smile! Be sure to stop by 5496 Redbark Way and tune into 87.9 FM to hear holiday music conduct thousands of lights on this decked out home.

The City of Dunwoody hosts many holiday events throughout the season, including light displays, parades, and other festivities. These events are great for families and friends to come together and celebrate the season. Consider one of the following events for a unique experience with plenty of activities for the kids.

Get into the holiday spirit and check out Ravinia’s 3rd annual Holiday in Lights event. This free event will be celebrated on December 15th from 5:30 pm- 8:30 pm. The holiday lights and snow magically transport its audience to the North Pole to take pictures with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their llamas! (This harkens to terrific scenes in Disney’s “Emperor’s New Groove”) Make sure to check it out this holiday season and enjoy the magical lights and festive atmosphere.

It's that time of year again - time to break out the ugly holiday sweaters and put them to the test. Every year, friends and family gather around to see who can come up with the ugliest Christmas sweater for the annual Light Up The Lawn event at Ashford Lane. The winner this year will receive a $100 gift card to any store or restaurant in Ashford Lane. Enjoy festive activities such as ornament decorating, letters to Santa, and hot cocoa on The Lawn. Check it out on Saturday December, 17th at 5:00 pm for this magical event.

We are excited to share a new event hosted by the Dunwoody North Civic Association.
