Discover Dunwoody Highlights Tony Holley
The Monthly Distinguished Production Associate for August
Discover Dunwoody is proud to recognize Tony Holley as the August recipient of the Distinguished Production Associate Recognition Program, an initiative that honors the dedicated professionals in the film and entertainment industry who work tirelessly behind the scenes.
Tony’s passion for filmmaking began at the age of five after seeing “Star Wars” in theaters. That early inspiration shaped his childhood and young adulthood, even though his initial career path took a different route. With no nearby film schools in Georgia in the early 1990s, Tony pursued a business degree before entering the corporate workforce. However, he quickly realized that his true calling was in film.
While working at a local Outback Steakhouse, Tony met fellow film enthusiast Alex Orr. The two began creating sketches and bits that evolved into a television show through Dekalb Public Access Television. That creative project opened the door to producing a series of promotional videos for a pharmaceutical company. The success of that job gave Tony the confidence to leave the corporate world and begin freelancing full-time.
In 2003, Tony landed his first feature film job in the Locations Department on “Stroke of Genius.” His skills in organization and logistics made him a natural fit. Over the years, he also worked as an Assistant Director before deciding to focus solely on location management, a choice that coincided with Georgia’s rapid growth as a production hub.
In the past few years, Tony has worked in numerous Georgia cities, including Macon, Madison, Powder Springs, East Point, and Sandy Springs. His most notable recent project was serving as Location Manager for ”Stranger Things” Season 5, which filmed from October 2022 to March 2025. The production is believed to be the largest-budgeted project to ever film in Georgia. He also worked on “Tulsa King” Season 3 in 2025.
