At Discover Dunwoody, we're proud to have team members who not only excel in their roles but also contribute significantly to the broader hospitality and tourism industry. Today, we're shining a spotlight on our very own Treasure Wilson, Senior Sales Manager at Discover Dunwoody, who was recently featured in the August Leadership Corner by Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Georgia Chapter.

A Journey of Growth and Impact

Treasure's involvement with MPI Georgia began with encouragement from industry colleagues. Inspired by the positive impact on members through education and connections, she decided to dive in. Currently serving as the Director of Communication for MPI Georgia, Treasure oversees the development of the monthly newsletter, annual directory, and other chapter publications.

"MPI Georgia has been a valuable platform for learning, building relationships, and making a meaningful impact," Treasure shares. "My journey on the Board has been incredibly fulfilling, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally while contributing to our vibrant community."

Bridging Gaps and Opening Doors

One of Treasure's most rewarding experiences has been introducing MPI Georgia to those unfamiliar with the association. Her approach to leadership is rooted in inclusivity and accessibility. "I don't just talk about MPI-GA at our events—I make it a point to meet people where they are, whether it's in casual meetups or professional settings," she explains. "I'm committed to opening doors and providing opportunities for others to succeed."

Looking to the Future

Treasure sees a significant opportunity for MPI Georgia in engaging with emerging professionals in the industry. Drawing from her own experience of discovering MPI Georgia later in her career, she emphasizes the importance of early involvement.

"It's essential for seasoned professionals to meet people where they are," Treasure notes. "By spreading awareness and providing opportunities, we can equip the next generation with the tools they need to succeed. As the saying goes, 'when you've reached the top, send the elevator back down for others.'"

Making a Difference Beyond the Industry

One of Treasure's proudest moments was during a holiday event hosted jointly by MPI-GA, PCMA SE, and IAEE at the Georgia Aquarium. Discover Dunwoody sponsored a youth choir to perform at the event, providing the young performers with not just a platform to showcase their talents but also an opportunity to experience the aquarium.

"Afterward, I received handwritten thank-you cards from the choir director and the students, which truly made my day," Treasure recalls. "It reminded me that our work can have a meaningful impact on others. Who knows how that experience might inspire those kids? Maybe one day, they'll find their way into the meetings and events industry."
