The Girls’ Guide to Dunwoody
On any given Friday night, you're likely to discover a group of ladies laughing, talking, and partaking in Wine Therapy.
That's the coined term for drinking wine at Vino Venue in Dunwoody. It’s amazing what heartfelt conversation over a glass of good red can do – plus, wine doesn’t charge by the hour.
Our Dunwoody Darlings, whom we admire for their taste, their sincerity, and their relentless passion to make our city better, generously shared their favorite places in Dunwoody to spend time with their best friends. We included these insider tips in our girls’ getaway guide below, along with a few recommendations of our own.
It's in the Bag
Some rep brand names only. Others relish the opportunity to say, “Oh, this? I can’t even remember where it’s from. Some boutique outside Atlanta.” No matter how you shop, Dunwoody’s the perfect fit. We’re home to Perimeter Mall, the second largest mall in the Southeast. We’ve got Dunwoody Village, Park Place, Perimeter Place, all chock full of boutiques. Try Under the Pecan Tree or Enchanted Forest for unique gifts and accessories. And don’t leave Dunwoody without a handmade souvenir from Spruill Gallery and Gift Shop, lest you forget your BFF trip years from now, when you and your bestie are reminiscing in your lululemon stretch capris and unbranded caftan.
“Everything you need is right here, but you’re really close to Atlanta, to Vinings, to Roswell, if you want to dip into those cities and see what they have to offer.” - Jennifer Leslie, Dunwoody Darling
Sleepover at our Place
You’re in for some serious power walking over the next few days, so you’ll need a comfortable place to put up your feet, break out the face masks and binge watch Buffy reruns. Book your rooms at one of Dunwoody’s plush hotels, many within walking distance to shopping, dining and entertainment. If you’re looking to explore Atlanta, The MARTA transit gets you to and from the capital city in 10 minutes, tops. Better yet, all of Dunwoody's hotels offer shuttle service to transit stations and around Perimeter Center.
Sip Sip Hooray
You already know our feelings about wine. Here’s where to get it in Dunwoody:
Vino Venue - Vino Venue’s enomatic wine dispensers feel like adult bubblegum machines. Swipe your card, place your glass under the spout and out comes the lifeblood of girls’ weekend. Sample dozens of wines by the glass, like even ones you couldn’t afford to buy in a bottle.
“Everybody’s out walking. Strollers, dog walkers, everywhere. It’s really fun to see.” - Pam Tallmadge, Dunwoody Darling
Relax, We Got This
Whew, honey. You need a massage.
Thankfully, you and your best girlfriends can get one at Woodhouse Day Spa in Dunwoody, owned by one of our very own Dunwoody Darlins. A revitalizing foot massage at Heavenly Foot Massage will put a spring in your step, like a little woodland sprite. And your face will feel fresh and bright at the touch of Face Haven.
If your preferred escape takes place outdoors, center yourself with Yoga in the Park at the Dunwoody Nature Center or venture to Brook Run Park for green space and walking trails. And if you’re the type who enjoys exercise on vacation, try a class at Dunwoody Pure Barre or CycleBar. Hey, you might even inspire your friends to join you!
“I enjoy all the city parks. Especially our crown jewel, Brook Run.” - Meredy Shortal, Dunwoody Darling
Stay Up Late
Your beauty sleep can wait. You’re on vacation; live a little and stay out late. Share an app and a margarita pitcher at Eclipse de Luna. Satisfy your sweet tooth (teeth?) with decadent desserts and specialty coffees at Café Intermezzo. Then shake off that weekday stress to the sound of live music at Wild Wing Café, Seasons 52 or Sage Woodfire Tavern. Whether you want to get dressed up for a night on the town or wear the hotel robe with your Nike Airs, you’ll find plenty of options for a nightcap in Dunwoody.
“Then there’s Village Burger. That’s the guilty pleasure.” - Rose Chambers, Dunwoody Darling
The Stage is Yours
Don’t forget to add some culture to your trip, dahhhling. See a show at Stage Door Theatre. Browse Spruill Gallery for artistic inspiration. And while you’re there, get a group photo with our iconic rotating mural. After this refreshing girls’ getaway, you’ll have a feed full of colorful backdrops with your besties.
Dunwoody Fun Don’t Stop
The fun doesn’t stop there. Our Dunwoody Darlings have a lot more wisdom to share: About hot spots in Dunwoody. About life and work and love. About that one time they almost met Ryan Seacrest, a Dunwoody High School alum, at their friend’s uncle’s Labor Day luau party. Watch the videos and to see the heart of our charming little city.
