3 Days in Dunwoody: Shopping

Dunwoody is located just north of Atlanta, marking it one of the best destinations to visit in the Greater Atlanta area, especially if you’re looking for great shopping. The city is known for its thriving shopping centers including Perimeter Mall, the Southeast's second-largest shopping center featuring six major department stores and 195 upscale specialty shops and retailers. But Perimeter Mall isn’t the only shopping destination to put on your list while you’re in Dunwoody. The city has a number of great local shops, boutiques and gift stops you’ll want to visit if you’re looking for something unique for yourself or a friend. Three days definitely isn’t enough time to visit every shop in Dunwoody, but it’s enough time to visit many of the top ones. Here is your three-day guide to top local stores, boutiques and more in Dunwoody, Georgia.

Day 1: Girly Gifts and More

Start your shopping weekend off the right way in Dunwoody with an early morning stop at Nancy’s Shoppe on Chamblee Dunwoody Road. Store owner Nancy Hoffman is known for her remarkable fashion sense. Every clothing item and accessory in her store is single-handedly picked from stores and merchandisers across the country to assemble her perfect collection of bohemian, free-flowing dresses and artsy jewelry. The next stop is only about five minutes away from Nancy’s Shoppe. Head north to Enchanted Forest, a one-of-a-kind gift store selling the cutest baby, wedding, birthday and hostess gifts in the Dunwoody Hall shopping center. Items for sale here include high-quality throws and blankets, gorgeous picture frames, sweet-smelling candles and fun board games. If you have any SEC fans in your family, Enchanted Forest carries plenty of accessories and housewares with team logos emblazoned on them. Enchanted Forest might also be the best place in the Atlanta area to find holiday decorations including sequined pillows and table decorations. For home decor, birthdays, hostess and shower gifts, stop by Under the Pecan Tree. While you will recognize many of their brands, Under the Pecan Tree boasts a variety of brands that are not well-known in the Atlanta area – especially jewelry lines.

Another great shopping destination in Dunwoody you can’t find anywhere else is Consigning Women on Mount Vernon Road. The consignment shop is one of the best places to find bargain deals on designer brands for women in the Atlanta area. The shop is devoted to finding only highly sought-after name brands; it’s Dunwoody’s most upscale consignment store. Shoppers can find designer brands like Prada, Burberry and Ralph Lauren, along with Louis Vuitton handbags at affordable prices. You can feel good about your purchases at Consigning Women, as many of the sales go to donations and charities.

These three shopping spots are all in the Chamblee-Dunwoody area, which also has a variety of great restaurants where you can sip on some wine and eat delicious food. 

Day 2: Wine, Cheese and Sweet Treats

The best way to start your second day of shopping in Dunwoody is with a brunch at First Watch. Once you step inside, you will know you’re in for a real treat. First Watch is a premier brunch experience with their unique seasonal items and fresh juice bar. Enjoying a quinoa bowl inside or out on the patio.

After getting fueled up for the day, take a walk over to H. Stockton, located in the same shopping plaza. H. Stockton stocks upscale, stylish and clean-cut menswear including tweed blazers, dress shirts, sweaters and loafers. H. Stockton is known for its impressive haberdashery collection and selective women’s boutique items as well. If a holiday or birthday is coming up, H. Stockton is the perfect place to find a high-end men’s gift.

Your next day two stop make your way to Spruill Gallery Gift Shop on Ashford Dunwoody Road. Spruill Gallery is a creatively inspired studio with a gallery and gift shop that sells art pieces and accessories made by local painters and artists. Pottery, stained glass, sculptures and paintings are among the many things available for sale at the gift shop. Another sweet stop in Dunwoody is Ali’s Cookies, a bakery where you can find sinfully good treats enormous cookies, weighing up to 2 pounds a dozen. Ali’s Cookies are so popular that its Choco Choco Chunk recipe has been featured on celebrity chef Rachael Ray’s show. The cookies come in traditional flavors like chocolate chips with amusing names like “George Washington’s Revenge.” Those with allergies do not fret: Ali’s has lactose-free and gluten-free cookies.

Make the next stop on day two of a shopping trip at Dress Up Boutique for chic clothing and accessories. The store specializes in Bohemian wear and selling fringe shirts, paisley-patterned dresses, leather skirts and scarves. As night falls, it’s time for dinner and some wine at Vino Venue on Mount Vernon Road. At this restaurant and wine bar, guests can sample imported wines from self-service machines and try appetizers like cheese plates that pair well with their drinks. You can also order main entrees like lobster claw rolls and pulled pork sandwiches. Beer lovers can join a tasting of many lagers and ales at Vino Venue as well.

Day 3: Hit the Mall

Your last day of shopping in Dunwoody should begin with a breakfast sandwich and coffee at Crema Espresso Gourmet on Mount Vernon Road. There, you will find plenty of outdoor seating and indoor tables situated in a rustic atmosphere of exposed beams and wooden furniture. Shoppers can relax over a soothing cup of cappuccino topped with dark chocolate or a caramel coconut latte. Breakfast meals include quiche, croissant sandwiches and pastries. Save room for a tiny treat, as Crema’s macaroons are reputedly among Dunwoody’s favorites. After your meal, make plans to find stylish dresses, shirts, pants, hats and accessories at affordable prices at Fab’rik on Olde Perimeter Way. While most items in the shop are casual and trendy, there are fun clothing items like high-waisted pants and fringe skirts to amp up your wardrobe. Other items include candles, tech accessories and handbags. The rest of your final day in Dunwoody can and should be spent at Perimeter Mall, one of Atlanta’s best shopping centers surrounded many local restaurants and popular chains like Seasons 52, The Capital Grille and Maggiano’s Little Italy. Perimeter Mall has all the stores you look for in a high-end shopping destination including Anthropologie, Lululemon, White House Black Market and Nordstrom.
